Spook's Challenge - in honor of Dick Irvin
Dick Irvin, our colleague and a great friend to many of us will be missed! He was a huge supporter of the association, the MCM Scholarship program and trucking industry. I remember on several occasions I would get a call from him and he would say, “take the staff out to lunch on me”. To help honor him and his commitment to education and the industry I will be donating $ 200.00 to the Scholarship fund. The MCM Education Trust has provided thousands of dollars in financial aid to MCM members, employees and their families over the years. Please contact the MTA office if you would like to help me recognize him by donating to the Scholarship fund. Remember the world is run by those who show up, get involved today. Thanks Spook.

Mike's Safety Tip
Hydration: Its true, sports drinks and fruit juices are OK, but you have to drink more of them to get a comparable amount of water into your system. Their high-sugar content slows absorption into the body and increases urination, depleting your body's water resources. Soda, coffee, and tea have caffeine, a diuretic, which removes fluid from your body. During exercise or physical labor, your body produces metabolic heat--heat from the inside. When it's hot outside, no heat transfer can occur, and your body overheats. You should drink water every 15 minutes, just 4 to 8 ounces of water can replenish lost fluids. Otherwise, you can get heat cramps or painful muscle spasms. And being in good shape doesn't prevent your body from getting too hot and losing fluids. In recap, drink lots of water to stay hydrated while out in the heat. Thanks, and have a great week Mike 406-274-8519
